1971 Walt Disney Recreation Coupon
The 1971 Walt Disney World Recreation Coupon—also known as the Walt Disney World Dollar—is the very first item resembling a Disney Dollar. However,
it is not directly related to the later official Disney Dollar, nor was it intended as a precursor to today's currency.
Issued when Walt Disney World first opened in October 1971, the coupon was designed exclusively for use at Walt Disney World and is marked "Not Valid
in the Magic Kingdom." It is signed by Roy Disney and copyrighted by Walt Disney Productions. Released in both 1971 and 1972, the coupon differs from
the official Disney Dollar in that it has no cash value and may never be redeemed for cash.
